Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Engineer with extensive experience in database programming and expertise in PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database development, ORM tools, and frameworks, with a developer’s mindset to design and implement custom solutions. This role primarily focuses on database-centric tasks while also supporting Java development for broader system initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities
Database Development
• Design and develop database triggers, constraints, and custom scripts to ensure efficient and reliable data management.
• Leverage expertise in PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora to create robust database solutions.
• Develop custom solutions to address tooling gaps, including tailoring migration options when Amazon DMS is not the preferred solution.
ORM Tools and Frameworks
• Work with tools like Hibernate, Flyway, and other JPA frameworks for database interaction and migration.
Cloud Development Kit (CDK)
• Apply a developer’s mindset to implement CDK solutions, demonstrating proficiency in coding beyond basic administrative tasks.

Secondary Responsibilities
Java Development Support
• Collaborate on broader system and application development initiatives.
• Provide support for Java-based development tasks while maintaining a focus on database-related activities.

Required Skills and Expertise
• Database Expertise: Proficient in PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora.
• Database Development: Hands-on experience in creating triggers, constraints, and custom scripts.
• ORM Tools: Proficiency with Hibernate, Flyway, and other JPA frameworks.
• Cloud Development Kit (CDK): Strong coding skills to implement custom CDK solutions.
• Custom Migration Solutions: Ability to design and implement tailored migration options.
• Java Development: Solid understanding of Java development and its integration with database systems.
